This is one of the more sought after Seth Thomas Chime clocks there is. The lines are straight and crisp making it a nice clock to look at. It's an 8 day clock; which chimes on the hour, half-hour, and quarter hours. The chimes may be silenced if desired. The strikers have had corks added to them by Ross Dickson to make the clock tone more pleasing. This clock has always had a nice soft toned chime. At the top of the hour the clock chimes the number of hours. The case was made at the Seth Thomas clock factory in Thomaston, CT.
More on the Seth Thomas Clock Company.
The clock belonged to Ross H. Dickson, husband of Marian Nellis Dickson. Ross Dickson worked for Standard Oil as a chemist in Bayonne NJ, and lived in Elizabeth NJ. His daughters were Nancy Jean Dickson (Oct 19, 1927) and Enid Nellis Dickson (June 10,1931). The clock was given to me by Marian Nellis Dickson, of Elizabeth N.J., my Grandmother.
